Integration of apo-rot with SAP PI/PO and SAP CAR into DocMorris’ application landscape

DocMorris is Europe’s largest mail-order pharmacy with a turnover of more than EUR 400 million p.a. with its head office in Heerlen, Netherlands. As a subsidiary of Zur Rose Group AG, DocMorris stands for secure, top-quality and comprehensive pharmaceutical care and counselling of more than 4 million customers – via telephone, mail, web, video-based internet live chat or also via the DocMorris pharmacy app.

And DocMorris is growing. The strategic growth comprises an organic growth of the core brand DocMorris itself as well as the acquisition and integration of competitors. In this context, last year, DocMorris further extended its market position in Germany by acquiring the mail-order business of the Hamburg pharmacy “Apotheke am Rothenbaum” (apo-rot).

consenso was appointed to support the integration of apo-rot into DocMorris’ existing SAP application systems and, especially, to ensure its consistent logistic process handling. Implementation followed an agile project approach – for a quick project success without any risky technical “big bang” on go-live.

In just four months, all processes and systems of both companies could be coupled together successfully. Core of the integration is a docking station consisting of the components SAP Process Integration / Process Orchestration (SAP PI/PO) and SAP Customer Activity Repository (SAP CAR) – flexibly connecting apo-rot’s existing systems, but also any further brands, to DocMorris’ integrated network.

SAP CAR is based on HANA – DocMorris’ entrance into in-memory data processing. SAP Retail is used as the central merchandise management system. It serves as a platform for the exchange of data with the web shop as well as the SAP-based warehouse management system.

The quick integration succeeded primarily due to the strongly service-oriented and agile development approach facilitating not only the functional concept and development, but also departmental tests, go-live and cutover activities at the max.
